How Often Should I Sharpen My Cutco?
Ah, the most frequently asked question in this business:
The answer is simple. Whenever you want. Cutco is guaranteed forever, which means you will always have the ability to request a free sharpening from your Local Cutco Rep. Cutco dulls so slowly, most people don't realize their knives are actually dull! Cutco recommends sending your Cutco into the factory every 1-2 decades for refurbishing. Most importantly you should have a local rep maintenance your Cutco Knives every 2-3 years.
So what's the difference?
When you send your knives to the factory, it usually means they are beyond sharpening or are broken. At the factory they are either replaced or refurbished. Usually the turn around time on factory sharpening is 2-4 weeks.
Local Sharpening:
If you request a rep to sharpen your Cutco Knives, they will schedule a free appointment and conveniently, will come to you right in your own home or if you are out of the area, they will have you attend a service event or go to a local service center. The rep sharpening your knives is certified and trained to service your knives and if anything does need to go back to the factory, they will box it up and do all the heavy lifting. All you have to do is drop it off at the post office, or they can help ship it for you for a flat rate. During your in home appt your rep will service everything that you own. All your knives will be sharpened to a sharp standard that should last 2-5 years depending on use.
How long does an appointment last?
Most of our reps bring a tent so they can camp out at your house for the weekend.

Most in home appointments take between 40-60 minutes and can be done right in your kitchen. When you come to our service events or service center an appt lasts the same time, about 40-60 minutes.
